Instagram Tuesday

Yesterday was the Alumni Ceremony for all the seniors going alumn in our sorority. It means our 'active' membership has expired and we join the alumni chapter. It is also tradition that during the ceremony a senior's Little Sister makes her a paddle. Since Taryn and I (another sister of my pledge class) never had Littles our pledge class got together and created beautiful paddles for us. I feel so blessed and lucky to call these girls sisters. I bawled like a baby when I received it. That act of love meant more to me than the best speech in the world. Thank you Rubix for making me feel loved and taking the time and energy to make me this beautiful paddle!

Royal Wizards

I was looking about on Tumblr and I follow a couple of tumblrs dedicated to Kate Middleton. I absolutely love this woman; she is poised, dressed well, and even with a baby bump she still looks amazing. Anyways, I came across this funny photo and I just had to share with you all to start your week on a happy note. The main source for the photo came from Fashionista.com

(look how happy they all are)

Hammer Time!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j41qNcjDoc8

(I can't get over how Loki looks like a  hobo in the trailer BUT nonetheless)

When I saw this trailer I did my happy dance! If there's one thing you should know about me, besides my love for coffee, is that I am totally into superheroes (I mean, I AM marrying one) and Marvel.

I seriously watched the Avengers like 10 times when it came out in theaters and I still can't get enough of it. By the way, I can't wait for the second Avengers film to come out too. I'm hoping they can get Will Smith to be Panther and Wolverine in. =)

Have a lovely weekend!

As I Promised

Here are some quotes from How to Eat a Cupcake.

"My mother's book was more than just a place she stored her favorite recipes, though since she was an accomplished baker and chef, her book would have been precious to me even if that's all it were. But I knew that my mom had used the recipe book as a journal as well, a place to write down her thoughts on the day, her daughter, and the family of which she took such heartfelt care."

"No one is perfect, of course, but Lucia managed to come exceedingly close. She seemed to know an endless catalog of songs-both English and Ecuadorean-that she sang in her soft, accented, slightly wavering voice. She always remembered to slice grilled cheese sandwiches straight across for me and diagonally for Annie. She had a way of listening that made me feel like I was the most important person in the world-she didn't own a sparkly watch at which to cast covert glances while I recited my times tables, and no telephones ever rang for her in my presence."

"Did I ever tell you what Julia said to me at my mother's funeral? She said, 'Well, at least now you're totally free. You can be anyone you want to be.' She presented this bit of wisdom like a gift, like I should thank her. I wanted to sock her."

Cupcakes

I finally got How to Eat a Cupcake in the mail this weekend and I immediately started it. So far it has been an easy read and I've quickly became attached to the two main characters, Annie and Julia.

The summary goes like this:

Free-spirited Annie Quintana and sophisticated Julia St. Clair come from two different worlds. Yet, as the daughter of the St. Clairs' housekeeper, Annie grew up in Julia's San Francisco mansion and they forged a bond that only two little girls oblivious to class differences could-until a life-altering betrayal destroyed their friendship. A decade later, Annie bakes to fill the void left in her heart by her mother's death, and a painful secret jeopardizes Julia's engagement to the man she loves. A chance reunion prompts the unlikely duo to open a cupcakery, but when a mysterious saboteur opens up old wounds, they must finally face the truth about their past or risk losing everything.

Sorry, that was long! Tomorrow I'll post some of my favorite quotes. Happy Wednesday!

Instagram Tuesday

Well, not really an instagram day but I have taken some night shots from last night's outing to see the meteor shower. Did anyone watch it too? I saw maybe three shooting stars but I had a great time just hanging out with friends, talking about the most random stuff, and laughing a lot.

The moon!

One of Those Days

Good Morning! It's a Monday and it's one of those days that you just don't want to do anything. I even skipped out on my morning class today.

The senioritis is getting serious. A rather nasty infection! Anywho, here's a fun video I discovered this weekend and hope it brightens your day!

When You See This

You know when it's close to the end of the semester when you see this...

I'm sorry if you can't read the signs. It's says "Out of Order" on all THREE. HA!

Have a great Friday!

Not Much To Say

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday. I have been running around like a chicken with it's head chopped off. Between getting research papers done, catching up on classes, finding time to Skype J and finding a house together has been crazy lately.

There's really not much to talk about today other than that J and I are struggling on finding a new place to live. I will definitely update on that when we finally find one.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Instagram Tuesday

After Greek Sing Sunday, I celebrated at a friend's house and she brought out her pet snake, Shik. I have to say that I'm crazy about snakes. As a kid I would beg my mom to let me have a pet snake, of course she said no. I was overjoyed to play with Shik. He was the most chill snake I've ever handled with. I was holding and playing with him for over an hour and he showed no sign of agitation. He was a very good boy.

As a joke I sent this picture to my family and J and they all freaked out. My mother texted me in all caps HE"S GOING TO CHOKE YOU!!! GET HIM OFF AND WASH YOUR HANDS!

Hysterical.

Mood: Mopey

Last night J told me that he's in one of those moods again. He was watching a sad movie involving a couple and it got to him and made him miss me even more. I try to encourage him to think positively and we only have less than a month 'til we have forever.

But when you and your partner have been separated for two years and constantly telling each other to look on the bright side of the situation gets tiring and, well, irritating. People who are in a long distance relationship can relate how HARD it is to keep a relationship going. J and I have been blessed to be able to Skype with each other as much as we want to compared to how things were ten years ago. Ten years ago we didn't have Skype. We had Facebook but couples weren't able to see each other's faces. Sometimes that's all we need to get by for a while, a smiling face, a laugh.

Anyone out there in a long distance relationship too? How do you get by when you're in a cloudy mood?

Wifely Duties

Good morning everyone!

Lately I have been getting so excited about being a 'wife'. I know I may sound crazy and please forgive my anticipation but it's true. I believe I've mentioned before on a past post that if I end up liking something, for example Dr. Who, I become obsessed and crazy about it to the point I get sick of it. (thankfully, I'm still in love with Dr. Who)

So with the wedding coming closer and closer every week, learning the duties of a 'housewife' has been on my mind a lot. I mean, I have even created this blog! I have been looking at Pinterest for good healthy recipes to make for my future husband and any helpful tips about fixing stains and whatnots that I will probably need later. I have even looked at baby articles! (let's not get too hasty)

I have even looked around for other 'housewife' blogs and have inspired me even more. Here are a few links to share with you and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Shopping For A New Home

J just emailed me this morning of six links to houses and apartments to 'look at'. I'm pretty darn stoked about this! What we're both looking for in a future home includes:
  • good living space for friends to come over
  • decent bedroom space (a little more room than just for the bed)
  • decent kitchen with appliances
  • must include washer/dryer
  • J wants a garage (if possible)
  • for me, I would like a bathtub

Granted, we're not going to find a place that has exactly everything we want with the limited price range we have. Also, we're only staying in England for roughly six months before leaving again so we can make do with whatever we can find. We don't even have a proper bed; J has a blow up mattress. If you've never been to England you must know that house spaces are tiny! Bedrooms usually have enough room for the bed and a dresser. Very limited space.

What we plan on doing is to wait on new bedroom furniture until we get back in the states. It's cheaper if we did that.

I'm just getting butterflies just thinking about picking out my new home! It's crazy! I'm actually going to make the commitment of moving in with my husband. Anyone else newlyweds who want to share their story? I would love some feedback.

Instagram Tuesday

I keep forgetting to show this to everyone. The first day of school back from Spring Break I was walking to class (well, obviously) and I usually pass through two rows of trees. Before Spring Break these trees were bursting with blooms and they were falling out with the wind. When you would walk through it would feel like it's snowing. So cool! But when I got back, all the blooms are gone and only green leaves are present. Nature amazes me how, in the right environment, it can quickly thrive.

Have a great Tuesday!

The List: If It's Meant To Happen

J is turning his preference list tomorrow and I'm very excited about it. Granted that there's a chance that we would get a location that is nowhere close to our list at all. It's just exciting to look at the possible 'future' home town we're going to live in roughly seven months from now.

Our lists includes: Tennessee, Colorado Springs, Virginia, North Carolina, California, and Florida. We're also discussing about Mississippi.

My main worry is if we so happened to be close to one family then the other would feel like they're being neglected. Even though we do not have control where we go this feeling keeps popping up for me.

But I've also learned that this is a normal issue that newly weds have, regardless if they're military or not. And apparently it is worse when kids are involved.

J and I will have to pray that everything will work out. I like to think if it's meant to happen it's going to happen.

Happy Founder's Day

I would like to say Happy Chi Omega Founder's Day!!!

Being in Chi Omega has been one of the best decisions I've made...ever! These girls who I call my sisters are wonderful and I thank God all the time for bringing them into my life. There has been laughs and tears in the two years I've joined this sorority and I was never alone when I needed a friend.

Last night I was talking to my best friend, who I call 'wifey', and she told me she was going to miss me. "No, we're not discussing it!" I yelled. I'm not ready to tell her and my sisters how badly I'm going to miss them and how I wish I wouldn't leave the country right away. (don't tell J)

Oh the feels!

Here's something some of the seniors made last night during Greek Sing practices. It made my day and I will keep it in my computer forever and look for it when I need comfort or to remember how adorkable my sisters are.

Yeah, we're pretty much dorks but we're dorks together haha

Big Fan

Have you ever been inspired by other blogs and want your blog to look great just like theirs?

I have. For over two years now I've been reading two particular blogs religiously! They are Cupcakes and Cashmere and Ramshackle Glam. They are wonderful to read, especially RG. I think Jordan is hilarious and fun. I've noticed that I am starting to wear red lipstick (casually) more often and if you check her blog out you'll see why.

Here's a link to one of RG's numerous how-to videos. Hope you like it!

And It Begins

Last night was the first practice/meeting for Greek Sing, an event that consist of every fraternity and sorority to put together a 5 minute skit about Greek Life. This event is two weeks from now but it takes a lot of work and time to put it together.

For me, March is not the 'madness'. It's April that is the madness because of Greek Sing and Greek Week is on this month. It's also around the same time when everyone is trying to fish for time to study for their last exams and research papers while working on Greek Sing. Emotions flair and feelings get hurt but at the same time this is around the time when we all make memories with each other. We will look back and remember our moments during Greek Sing practices and the laughs and fights of Greek Week.

This spring is my last Greek Sing and Greek Week so it has a bittersweet tone to it. My goal is to not let my 'emotions flair' and remember to keep it light and fun with my sisters because this is the last time to make those moments that I'll look back.

Here are some really good skits from past years of Greek Sing to give you an idea what it is. Yes, it is corny but I promise they were a lot of fun to be a part of.

Not So Instagram Tuesday

This is my dad looking for a suit for the wedding. The yellow is a very nice touch (and it so happens to be his favorite color too). We're all very excited. J just informed me that he bought all the plane tickets and the rings yesterday and that's finally officially 'official'. There's no backing out now.

Not that I want to.

Have a great Tuesday!

What Men Need

As a new bride I’ve been reading books and books about advice and tips on marriage. I tend to be like that. Once I’m interested in something I obsess over it. You should’ve seen me at the peak of my Doctor Who obsession; it wasn’t pretty. I expect that when I’m ‘expecting’ I’ll be hunching over books and guides on what to expect and how to take care of little ones. Anyways, I have come across a guide book called ‘The New Bride Guide’ by Ellie Kay. I have to say it’s been very helpful. I have been flipping through its pages earlier yesterday and came across a piece about the three basic needs of a man. It includes: Sexual Fulfillment, Respect, and To Be Needed.

The sexual fulfillment part got me interested. Ellie goes on talking about the difference between sex and sexual fulfillment. The fulfillment part is connected to his emotional needs. Women, including myself, have assumed that men are after the physical need for sex. We don’t realize how important it is emotionally for them. I learned that the importance of sexual fulfillment to men is the importance of having an emotional connection is to women. Denying sexual fulfillment to your spouse is like a slap in the face. Yes, we women might not be in the mood or we’re tired and that’s the last thing on our mind but think of the situation reversed. Let’s say you come home from work and you are exhausted and had a horrible day. What’s the first thing you want to do? You want to talk to your spouse about it. You want to drain out your emotions by connecting with your spouse, via by speech usually. But let’s say he ignores you and continues to turn up the volume of the t.v. while watching a football game. He shuts you out. How would that make you feel? Insignificant? Unloved? I’ve talked to J about it and he said to me, “That’s exactly how I would feel if you were to say no to me in having sexual relations with me. I would feel unloved and unimportant in your eyes because you are denying me something I need.”

We women have to accept that sex is on their minds. It’s how they are wired, just like we are wired the complete opposite. Most likely we are good for a few months after one night of sex. We can last for a long time. Men are, as Jeff Foxworthy pointed out, are like bottle rockets.  My point is, maybe we should make more of an effort to give our spouses what they need, just like we expect them to make an effort to listen to us in our need of emotional satisfaction. I can’t promise you anything but I have noticed that afterward J’s mood would change a lot better than before. He would talk more with me and joke with me. He’s more relaxed too.

I hope this has been informative and helpful. Have a great Monday!
